Rock chick Alessandra Tinio knows a good tune when she hears it. In fact, she gets so worked up that her energy knows no bounds. "I love rock music!" enthuses Alessandra, who has carved a niche for herself in local rock circles as a tireless promoter of her brand of music.

Advertorial - Alessandra TinioSince arriving in the land of the brown, l'exotique and the natives aka Las Islas Filipinas after four years in chav-central England, Alessandra made it her goal to make sure that Filipinos aren't left behind with the developments in popular music abroad. So she started DJ-ing at the trendiest spots around the Metro, attracting a devoted following of hipsters that eventually evolved into a legitimate scene. She now does a regular gig at Restaurant Zen (one of my favourite Jap restaurants in Manila) on Tuesday nights called PANIC.

"My musical taste is eclectic, though," shares Alessandra. "Not a lot of people here like some of the music I like, I guess because they're not exposed to it."

But the difference lies not only in music. Asked how the partying here compares to London, she honestly says that she probably partied harder over there. "Wow, the nightlife there was fantastic!," she recalls, "Great venues and a never-ending choice of music sure kicks partying in London up a notch," she says. Although she misses the city, she's really buzzed about being back home. After all, this gal's got a mission. "I feel that people who come back from abroad like myself are getting the party started back here." Still, the quickest way to kick-start a revolution is to form a band. It's really very simple: all you need are three cords and the truth. Knowing this, Alessandra declared herself a rock n' roll singer and became the front-woman of The Dorques. Already attracting quite a lot of buzz for their stage performances as their music, the band couldn't have been fronted by anyone better. By All accounts, Alessandra was already a bona fide rock star even before she decided to get on that stage. Named by a popular fashion magazine as one of their choices for "Best Dressed in 2006", Alessandra is a fashion revolutionary, one whose style creed is that it's "30 percent clothing and 70 percent attitude." No doubt Alessandra wants to change the world; but she's wise enough to know that she's got to look the part.

Partying hard doesn't stop her from facing a different kind of battle during the day. The rocker is also the Marketing and Communications Manager of Philosophy and Mikaela Salons and Holistic Centers. In fact, she's in at the office early morning everyday, making sure the business of maintaining their clients' inner peace is in order. She also writes and styles fashion shoots for a major newspaper, which she usually attends to in the afternoon. Amidst all her activities, she still finds the time to exercise by taking power walks around a polo fields. Other times, she does horseback riding. Nights are reserved for music - both listening and performing.

With her packed schedule, it makes one wonder: did she ever wish she had a day with nothing to do?

"Nah, I get antsy when I'm not doing anything," says Alessandra.

Far from burning out, however, Alessandra looks forward to more partying, more career challenges and more of life's surprises.

"Knowing that my day is full from day to night excites me!" she says. "I can't see myself living any other way."
